Server Upgrades

SoundBible has recently moved servers and hosting companies. We rent our servers from companies that specialize in server management and security.

The price of technology is always dropping due to market competition and other such forces. This means that every so many years it’s smart to change server plans. What we spent years ago for a server will no buy us 2x as much, and because of this we upgraded.

You should notice a huge improvement in page load times, downloads, and even uploads (if you share your own sounds).

During the move we had minimal downtime. As we say where I’m from “if you blinked you missed it”. So we hope you missed it

We also hope that you will enjoy many improvements this change will bring, and as always keep spreading the word

SoundBible.com has finally added the Holy Bible to in ever growing collection of audio. The Bible can be downloaded or streamed online by chapters. It may also be downloaded in PDF format (both the Catholic and Standard King James versions)

Just like everything else on our website it’s totally and 100% free. We consider our site a service to the community and will continue to publish, or in this case re-publish content for our loyal users.

Police Scanner Sounds

We are working on cutting up and adding some 3 hours of and emergency situation that was recorded on a scanner. There was an explosion at a factory in my town and we figured it would be a great time to get some emergency scanner sounds.

We’ve attached a “Pre”-release that contains 18 sounds that are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution license.

We are giving them to you before we even publish them and the other sounds in this category to the site. Hope you enjoy, and be sure to tell your friends and come back in the future for the rest of these sound effects.

This is a quick little video tutorial that will show you how to loop sound effects to make them last longer. When you loop a sound you are basically just repeating it a set number of times. So this video shows you how to use the free sound editor Audacity to repeat/loop sounds.

If you are creating a movie or video game and want your sound effect to last a bit longer then this is what you want to use.

We’ve just integrated a new rating system and we wanted to ask all our users to start rating our sounds. All you have to do is choose a rating anywhere from 1 – 5 and click that star. 5 being the best and 1 being the worst. You don’t even need to be a registered user, so no login required.

We recorded some great sounds from a passing freight train today, here is the full audio as well as some chopped up sound clips of the train. The train honks several times, approaches, honks more, passes, and you can hear the metal scraping or grinding of the the wheels from the freight. This was a short freight train (this is perfect), and means you get the full approach, pass, and honk plus other sound effects in just under a minute. Have at it and enjoy, these sound effects are under creative commons attribution 3.0

Search Updated

We’ve been listening to your sound requests as well as the search logs. It seems that like us, many of you are have issues spelling. (no offense)

Many of the requests are for sounds that we have in the catalog but that the requester has somehow misspelled.

The solution? We’ve integrated an auto suggest search feature that will suggest words based on our sound catalog. It shows you what we have in our database. Pretty cool huh?

Sound Forge 10 is the latest in a long line of audio editing platforms or daw’s that was originally created Sonic Foundry by and was later purchased by Sony Entertainment.

We have just updated a huge portion of our user platform.  We’ve added all sorts of new things, and we’d like to detail them and get your opinion. Please post feedback below in the comment section. All ideas and concepts are welcome.

1. Share Your Recordings-You can now record and share your own audio recordings, we want your help. Record and upload your original sounds. Is there something that you see in your everyday life that sound interesting? READ MORE HERE
2. New MP3 Player – We’ve commissioned a custom mp3 player that shows you what the sound looks like. It renders an image of the wave just like Audacity or other sound apps. By visualizing the sound you can better get a feel for it’s dimensions. It also includes a volume control, position sidebar, and a display of the sound time.

3. More Download Options – We’ve now added a 3rd download option. Zip file download. If you are on a slow connection or just wan to download the wav files faster then you should try the new .zip file downloads. This feature compresses the .wav files for faster download.

4. New Header Image – The banner at the top of the main site was updated recently. We hope you like the new banner. We think it looks more professional than the last one. Nice and clean.
